Bene, dopo tanti anni di dedizione, studio, progetti e sogni, finalmente posso dire che oggi mi sento in gran parte realizzata. Proprio così. In questo settembre parto col mio progetto e, spero, futuro di vita. Lavorare con la lana, creare con la lana, averla tra le dita per gran parte del mio tempo.

Un po’ mi dispiace lasciare “The Knitting Cowgirl”, ma per questioni di tempo mi sarà impossibile aggiornare anche questo blog, che già ultimamente stavo trascurando… così,care amiche, ecco l’annuncio: da oggi mi potrete leggere su thewoolshop.wordpress.com spero che il nuovo blog vi piaccia e che mi seguirete ancor più numerose. Ovviamente è solo da un paio di giorni che scrivo lì e quindi esso si andrà formando ed arricchendo giorno dopo giorno.

A presto e grazie per aver seguito questa piccola parte di vita chiamata The Knitting Cowgirl.

Well, after many years of dedication, study, projects and dreams, I can finally say that I feel now largely achieved. Exactly. In this September I am developing my project and giving birth, I hope, the future of my  life. Working with wool, Creating with wool,  holding wool between fingers for most of my time.

I’m a little sorry to leave “The Knitting Cowgirl”, but for problem of time I will not even update this blog, recently I was neglecting that already … so, dear friends, here is the announcement: from now on you can read me on  the new blog thewoolshop.wordpress.com I hope you enjoy and that will follow me even more numerous. Obviously it is only a couple of days I write there and then it will be forming and enriching it day by day.

La famosa canzone di Bobby Solo è senz’altro azzeccatissima in questo agosto rovente.Qui in Brianza c’è un caldo tropicale e l’unico rimedio refrigerante sono piscina, acqua, piedi a mollo, ghiaccioli, ecc…

“A Sunday in August, how it’s hot? The night is a raoster, it doesn’t help to have a drink, when in the depth, I feel the ocean s,plash!” …. It’s a  famous song by italian singer Bobby Solo. In this time, here around Milano, weather is hot, very hot! A tropical heat and to cool the only remedy is to swim in the fresh water,take an ice-cream, etc…

Le vacanze mi sono servite sia per sferruzzare in santa pace, che per sistemare armadi, scaffali e fare un ri-ordine nei miei accessori. Tra le altre cose mi son saltate fuori queste tirelle di  stoffe coloratissime. Ci si possono fare un sacco di cose con degli avanzi di stoffa, sapete? Io ho pensato di usarle per creare delle “shopping bags” da regalare a tutte le mie clienti nel mese di settembre: un progetto ecologico, che aiuta la natura evitando sacchetti di plastica, e inoltre questi colori mettono di buonumore!

Holidays give me the chance to knit in peace, and for arranging closets, shelves and do a re-order in my accessories. Among other things I found some colorful fabrics. You can do a lot of things with scraps of fabrics, you know? I thought of using them to create “shopping bags”, a gift for  all my customers in the month of September: an ecological project, which helps avoid the nature of plastic bags, and these colors also put in a good mood!

Il filato che più mi piace avere tra le mani è CHARME, un prezioso filato lana/cachemire, da lavorarsi con ferri grossi e disponibili in tantissime tonalità, dalle più classiche alle più vivaci. Per ispirarmi dò un’occhiata ai colori tendenza per la prossima stagione, riassunti molto bene nella tabella sotto.

Although it is the first Sunday of August, the sky around here in Milan is gray and aster. SoI dedicate  this day of relaxation and peace of mind  to colors and creativity. In fact, I am creating and preparing various kits for the winter 2011/12. The yarn that I like the most to have in my hands is CHARME, a precious wool / cashmere yarn, to knit with big needles and available in many shades, from the classic to the most brightly. To inspire me I look at the color trends for next season, very well summarized in the table below.

Ecco una bellissima idea per scaldarmi nel prossimo inverno. Una sciarpona realizzata con un filato in 100% lana Merino, coloratissima, caldissima e morbida!!! I colori di questo filato sono davvero tanti e non sapete che voglia avrei di farne una di ogni variante!!!  Su Ravelry trovate il pattern. Here is a wonderful idea to warm me up in the next winter! a big scarf realized with a 100% merino wool, colorful, hot and soft! GIPSY QUEEN

filato/yarn: Babà

Ferri/needles: 9 mm

Abilità/skills: maglia rasata/stockinette stitch – aumenti/increases – diminuzioni/decreases

INGREDIENTI (per circa 10 tartellette):

• per la pasta:
• 250 gr di farina
• 50 gr di zucchero a  velo
• 125 gr di burro
• 1 uovo

• per la crema:
• 3 uova
• 80 gr di succo di limone
• 1 cucchiaio di scorzette di limone
• 150 gr di zucchero
• 20 gr di burro
• un cestino di fragole

Ingredients (for about 10 tartlets)

• For the dough:
•  250 g of flour
•  50 g of icing sugar
• 125 g of butter
•  1 egg

• for cream:
• 3 eggs
• 80 g lemon juice
• 1 tablespoon lemon zest
• 150 g sugar
• 20 g butter
• a basket of strawberries

1- Mescolare bene la farina e lo zuchero a velo. Incorporare poi l’uovo e il latte. Lavorare l’impasto e raccoglierlo in una palla. Avvolgerlo in un telo e metterlo in frigorifero per 30 minuti.

1 – Mix the flour and icing sugar. Stir in the egg and milk then. Knead the dough into a ball and pick it up. Wrap in a towel and put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

2- Poi tirare la sfoglia e foderare degli stampini individuali imburrati e infarinati. Riempire ogni dolcetto con carta da forno strizzata e bagnata e sopra dei fagioli secchi. Passare nel forno già caldo a 180°C per 10 minuti. Poi togliere i fagioli e la carta e cuocere per altri 7 minuti finchè la pasta sarà appena dorata e asciutta. Togliere dal forno e lasciare raffreddare.

2 – Roll the pastry and butter and flour individual molds. Fill each trick with wet and squeezed baking paper and put on some dried beans. Cook in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for 10 minutes. Then remove the beans and paper and cook for 7 minutes until the pastry is golden and just dry. Remove from oven and let cool.

3- Intanto preparare la crema, sbattendo le uova e lo zucchero. Poi mettere il tutto in una pentola con il succo di limone e cuocere a bagnomaria su fiamma dolce, mescolando per circa  7 minuti, finchè risulterà densa e cremosa. Togliere dal fuoco e unirvi le scorze di limone e il burro. Mescolare e lasciare raffreddare. Farcire le crostatine con la crema e decorare con le fragole fresche.

3 – Meanwhile, prepare the cream, beating eggs and sugar. Then put the mixture into a saucepan with the lemon juice and cook in a double boiler over low heat, stirring for about 7 minutes, until it results thick and creamy. Remove from heat and add the lemon peel and butter. Stir and let cool. Fill the tarts with the cream and garnish with fresh strawberries.

L’idea di celebrare la Giornata della Terra ha rapidamente preso piede ed ora più di 140 nazioni in tutto il mondo partecipano a questa giornata. Entro l’anno 1990 oltre 200 milioni di persone hanno partecipato a Earth Day, che lo rendono uno delle manifestazioni più frequentate mai create prima.

Tutti noi possiamo aiutare il nostro ambiente ogni giorno, con piccoli gesti:

Ecco alcune cose che puoi fare per provare a vivere verde ogni giorno:

Prova ad usare bicchieri e tazze riutilizzabili invece che di plastica.

Usare un tovaglioli lavabili al posto di  tovaglioli di carta.

Riutilizzare le borse per la spesa.

Utilizzare delle botti per raccogliere la pioggia attraverso grondaie e non,  e conservala per la prossima volta che dovrai bagnare il tuo giardino.

Se stai per fare il bagno o la doccia, in attesa che l’acqua si scaldi, metti un secchio grande sotto per raccoglierel’acqua. Utilizzala poi per le piante, gli animali domestici, pulizie, ecc

Sostituire le lampadine normali con lampadine a risparmio energetico che utilizzano un quarto della energia elettrica per produrre la stessa quantità di luce.

On April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day was founded by, Gaylord Nelson, a United States Senator. The Senator wanted everyone to have a better understanding of the affect we have on our planet. The first Earth Day was attended by 20 million Americans nationwide. Millions of people started banding together in their communities to do what they could to clean up their area. Grassroots campaigns started to improve efficiencies in handling waste, recycling, and conserving energy.

The idea of celebrating Earth Day quickly caught on and now more than 140 nations around the world now have their own Earth Day. By the year 1990 over 200 million people were participating in Earth Day, making it one of the most-attended organizational activities ever created.

Here’s some things you can do to try to live green every day:

Contact your garbage collectors to find out what materials they can take from you and what conditions might apply.

Try to use reusable glasses and mugs instead of plastic bottles.

Use washable cloth rags or napkins instead of paper.

Reuse your shopping bags and buy in bulk.

Use barrels to capture rain from your eaves trough and save it for the next time you have to water your garden or lawn.

If you’re running the bath or shower waiting for the water to heat up, put a large bucket under to catch the water. Use this water for plants, pets, cleaning etc.

Replace ordinary light bulbs with energy saving bulbs that use a quarter of the electricity to produce the same amount of light.
